Lighting is often one of the first things considered when it comes to plants. However, not all plants need as much light as others. A few kinds of common indoor houseplants are a bit more durable and tough, giving them the ability to go longer between waterings and survive with less sunlight. Most of our plants are easy to care for, but there are a few who are great for forgetful plant parents or new plant parents trying to get the hang of things.
Taking care of your plants should be fun, but we know that it sometimes can be tough to give them exactly what they need. However, know that if you give you plants care, they’ll take care of you too!
Whether you have a home with less natural light or just want a plant that may not need as much from you – we are here to help!
ZZ Plants: These guys are truly one of the easiest indoor houseplants to care for. They are low maintenance and don’t require much water or much light. Because they have rhizomes as roots, they can store their water and release it over time. Since they don’t need water often, a lack of light makes them durable and strong. They can tolerate some time in a shadier spot of your home and still do well. While many of the plants listed above can tolerate lower light, none prefer it. It’s always best to give your plants bright, indirect light, but we know with changing seasons, windows and other circumstances, it can be a challenge sometimes. But with proper care, even plants that don’t get a lot of light can have long lives too!
